Government of Georgia is committed to develop child-friendly juvenile justice system in compliance with international standards and centered on the best interest of child. Thus, Juvenile Justice Reform is a key component of overall Criminal Justice Reform. The reform process is led by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia (MoJ) in cooperation with UNICEF and other international and local institutions.
Our strategy is gradual shift to more liberal criminal justice policy towards juveniles while at the same time maintaining downwards trend of crime as well as ensuring safety of our community. This objective can only be achieved through comprehensive inter-agency approach involving wide range of stakeholders, including civil society.
