Department of State Representation in International Courts

Functions of the Department:

  • Providing state representation in international courts and organizing resolutions on related issues.
  • Organizing and processing timely receipt of information, materials, cases, conclusions and other documents from state institutions and other bodies on issues within their competence in order to prepare documents to be submitted on behalf of the state to international courts.
  • Developing proposals for the enforcement of judgments rendered by international courts and facilitating their implementation;
  • Ensuring facilitation of investigative actions by international courts.
  • Cooperation with the International Criminal Court and coordination of this cooperation with other state bodies.
  • Development and submission of proposals to ensure compliance of Georgian legislation with international human rights legal acts and decisions of international courts.
  • Examination of draft legislative and sub-legislative normative acts to determine compliance with the standards of international human rights law.
  • Promotion of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, other international human rights instruments, as well as the case law of international courts.
