Paata Salia Shares Georgia’s Experience in Combating Financial Crimes at Council of Europe Ministerial

Paata Salia shared Georgia’s experience in combating financial crimes with participants of the Council of Europe Ministerial. The Minister of Justice of Georgia delivered a speech addressing the challenges of preventing and countering money laundering and other financial crimes.

He spoke about Georgia’s mechanisms for combating money laundering, noting that their effectiveness is essential for upholding the rule of law, strengthening economic security, and maintaining public trust in democratic institutions.

The Minister emphasized the importance of close cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to ensure the early detection of financial crimes. He noted that such crimes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often involving virtual assets and other emerging financial technologies. In this context, he highlighted the need to strengthen the capacities of professionals working in the field of economic crime and to deepen cooperation with international partners.

The Georgian delegation also includes First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Khatia Tsilosani.

Deputy Minister of Justice Tamar Zodelava Participates in Thematic Sessions of UN Global Event

Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Tamar Zodelava is participating in thematic sessions and discussions held as part of the 16th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).

As part of the session, Georgia expressed its support for the further development of the Framework for Effective Land Administration (FELA), as well as the establishment of an Effective Land Administration Hub. The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices among countries and contribute to strengthening land administration systems worldwide.

Drawing on its substantial experience and expertise in land administration and geospatial information management, Georgia also expressed its readiness to join the newly established UN Expert Group on Land Administration and Management (EG-LAM). The group contributes to the development of land administration policies, key approaches, and global development priorities.

Georgia’s participation in the group will provide an opportunity to share the country’s experience and expertise in support of the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the development of the global agenda in the field.

Georgia’s participation in the 16th Session of UN-GGIM further underscores the country’s growing contribution to international efforts in land administration and geospatial information management. It also strengthens opportunities for sharing Georgia’s expertise internationally and deepening cooperation in these areas.
