Minister of Justice of Georgia Paata Salia held an introductory meeting with Joanna Barton, the newly appointed Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Georgia.

The meeting focused on cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the ICRC, the organization’s activities in Georgia, and matters related to prospective joint projects.

“For years, the International Committee of the Red Cross has been a reliable and constructive partner for Georgia. We highly value the organization’s longstanding engagement and the important humanitarian role it plays in supporting internally displaced persons from Georgia’s occupied territories and people affected by armed conflict,” Paata Salia said.

The parties also discussed student projects organized by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the ICRC, which contribute to enhancing young people’s knowledge and understanding of human rights and international humanitarian law.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Paata Salia expressed his readiness to continue and further strengthen the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamiashvili and Head of the Department of International Relations and Legal Cooperation Ketevan Sarajishvili.
