General inspection
Functions of the Department:
The General Inspection is a structural unit of the Ministry of Justice ensuring official control and investigation.
The main tasks and functions of the General Inspection are to control the strict implementation of the requirements of the Georgian legislation in the structural units of the Ministry and legal entities operating in the field of governance of the Ministry, to reveal the facts of incompatibility of interests, to control the compliance with the law.
The function of the General Inspection is also investigation of the crimes committed under Articles 332, 333 and 337-342 of the Criminal Code of Georgia committed by an employee of the Ministry system, including a private bailiff, and crimes under Articles 3421, 378, 3781, 3782, 379, 380 and 381 (in the part of non-execution of a sentence related to deprivation of liberty) of the Criminal Code of Georgia committed on the territory of Georgia, and the crimes under Articles 332, 333 and 337-342 of the Criminal Code of Georgia committed on the territory of penitentiary institutions located in Georgia and committed by an employee of the Special Penitentiary Service.
