Interagency Coordinating Commission on International Humanitarian Law
In order to promote the observance of norms of international humanitarian law, their integration and coordination of the activities of relevant agencies in the field of international humanitarian law, the Interagency Commission on International Humanitarian Law (hereinafter - the Commission) was established, which is a permanent advisory body of the Government of Georgia.
The Commission is chaired by the Minister of Justice of Georgia or a person authorized by him/her. The functions of the Commission's secretariat are performed by the International Relations and Legal Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
The Commission actively cooperates with the International Committee of the Red Cross, which participates in the work of the Commission as an observer. Cooperation is carried out in terms of organizing humanitarian law programs and promoting various types of educational activities.
In this regard, it should be noted that the International Relations and Legal Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Justice, the Training Center of Justice and the International Committee of the Red Cross organize a national competition in international humanitarian law annually, in which students of accredited higher education institutions of Georgia participate.
