Deputy Minister of Justice Tamar Zodelava Participates in Thematic Sessions of UN Global Event

Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Tamar Zodelava is participating in thematic sessions and discussions held as part of the 16th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).

As part of the session, Georgia expressed its support for the further development of the Framework for Effective Land Administration (FELA), as well as the establishment of an Effective Land Administration Hub. The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices among countries and contribute to strengthening land administration systems worldwide.

Drawing on its substantial experience and expertise in land administration and geospatial information management, Georgia also expressed its readiness to join the newly established UN Expert Group on Land Administration and Management (EG-LAM). The group contributes to the development of land administration policies, key approaches, and global development priorities.

Georgia’s participation in the group will provide an opportunity to share the country’s experience and expertise in support of the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the development of the global agenda in the field.

Georgia’s participation in the 16th Session of UN-GGIM further underscores the country’s growing contribution to international efforts in land administration and geospatial information management. It also strengthens opportunities for sharing Georgia’s expertise internationally and deepening cooperation in these areas.

Competition Announced to Select Georgia’s Candidate for Membership in the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

A competition has been announced to select Georgia’s candidate for membership in the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), in accordance with the rules approved by Order No. 1228 of the Minister of Justice of Georgia on 5 August 2026.

The Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) is an independent expert body within the Council of Europe system responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. In carrying out their functions, GRETA members act independently and impartially.

Following the competition, the candidate nominated by Georgia will participate in the election of GRETA members, which will take place on 27 November 2026 during the 39th meeting of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings.
