Deputy Minister of Justice Merab Turava Participates in the 34th Session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ)
Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, Merab Turava, participated in discussions on substantive issues within the mandate of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) during its 34th session.
The session addressed, inter alia, the results achieved and future prospects of state actions in combating transnational crime, as well as trends in the implementation of criminal justice policy standards developed by the Commission and the effectiveness of justice systems at the national level. The CCPCJ has elaborated a comprehensive set of guiding instruments based on United Nations standards and norms, integrating key issues in the field of criminal justice.
The Commission also considered substantive and organizational matters related to the preparatory process for the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. The Congress serves as a global platform for developing national and international strategies, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experience, and information, and identifying priorities in the fight against crime.
The session was also attended by the Head of the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Justice, Giorgi Lomtadze.
