Functions of the Department:

Coordinating the activities of the Ministry's structural subdivisions to fulfill their commitments in the EU integration process, including program documents and action plans (Association Agenda, Visa Liberalization Action Plan, EU Law Approximation / Harmonization Plan).

Participating in the Government Coordination Mechanism established for the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia.

Implementation of the necessary measures for legal approximation / harmonization of issues within the competence of the Ministry in the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia, in particular, analyzing the compliance of Georgian legislation with EU law sources (regulations, directives, decisions), if necessary, amending normative acts or draft normative acts, submitting proposals to the Legislative Department of the Ministry.

Legal examination of draft normative acts and accompanying documents developed by various agencies in order to approximate / harmonize the Georgian legislation with the EU regulations, decisions and directives defined by the Association Agreement concluded between the EU and Georgia.
