In order to promote the observance of norms of international humanitarian law, their integration and coordination of the activities of relevant agencies in the field of international humanitarian law, the Interagency Commission on International Humanitarian Law (hereinafter - the Commission) has been established, which is a permanent advisory body of the Government of Georgia.

The Commission is headed by the Minister of Justice of Georgia or a person authorized by him. The functions of the Commission's secretariat is performed by the International Public Law Department of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

The Commission actively cooperates with the International Committee of the Red Cross, which participates in the activities of the Commission as an observer. Cooperation is carried out in terms of organizing humanitarian law programs and promoting various types of educational activities.

In this regard, it should be noted that the International Public Law Department of the Ministry of Justice, the Training Center of Justice and the International Committee of the Red Cross organize a national competition in international humanitarian law every year, in which students of accredited higher education Georgian institutions participate. The national competition is announced annually through the official website of the Training Center of Justice.
