First Deputy Minister of Justice Holds a Meeting with the State Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan

Tamar Tkeshelashvili discussed with Asad Majid Khan the issues of sectoral cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the importance of the international community's support for the territorial integrity of Georgia.

The First Deputy Minister introduced the main priorities of the Ministry of Justice to the Pakistani delegation.

The Pakistani party expressed its desire to share Georgia's experience in providing services and digitalization.

The conversation also touched on the state policy in the direction of migration.

The meeting was attended by Head of the State Services Development Agency, Ketevan Betlemidze, Ambassador of Pakistan to Georgia, Bilal Haye, and Director of the 3rd European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Ali Shahid.

Ministry of Justice Continues Lectures on Legal Aspects of EU Integration

On June 1, a meeting was held with the students of Gori State University. The representatives of the Ministry of Justice provided the young people with information about the process of Georgia's accession to the European Union, the positive impact of the country's integration into the European Union, and the role of the Ministry of Justice in this regard.

The purpose of the public lectures is to popularize the idea of Georgia joining the European Union and to increase the support of the integration process among students.

The Ministry of Justice plans to hold lectures on the legal aspects of EU integration in Kutaisi and Batumi universities as well.

Minister of Justice Congratulates the Enforcement Police officers on their Professional Day

The Minister got acquainted with the report of the work done by the enforcement police and the achieved results. From April 2022 to the present, the cases concluded by settlement between the parties by the National Bureau of Enforcement amounted to 88%.

The Minister of Justice, together with his deputies and the Chairperson of the National Bureau of Enforcement, awarded special state titles to the enforcement policemen for their high professionalism in their work and thanked them for the conscientious performance of their duties.

"I congratulate the enforcement police focused on human dignity and the protection of all rights derived from it on their professional day. Enforcement policemen stand at the service of Georgia and protect property rights, which is a great responsibility. The Ministry of Justice supports every police officer and takes care of improving their working conditions and strengthening social guarantees," said the Minister of Justice.

Presentation of the Fourth Issue of the Iustitia Magazine and the Session of the Scientific Advisory Council Were Held at the Ministry of Justice

In addition to scientific articles, he new issue of the magazine includes important interviews; Georgian language translations of legal works recognized as classics; Articles about individuals who have made special contributions to the development of legal opinion.

Scientific articles and interviews can also be viewed on the magazine's website (http://iustitia.gov.ge/ge).

At the session of the Scientific Advisory Council, the issues of legal regulation of artificial intelligence and the challenges related to this process were discussed as well. The projects and innovative approaches prepared in the field of artificial intelligence regulation were discussed in a comparative legal context.

Essays related to the issue of legitimation of the Act of Independence of Georgia were also presented at the session and the main features of the legal arrangement of the mentioned document were analyzed.

Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze, Deputy Minister Tornike Cheishvili and members of the Council attended at the session of the Scientific Advisory Council.

Rati Bregadze Signs the Hague Convention on the Protection of Children's Rights

Accession to the Convention stems from the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union and the Association Agenda, and it will contribute to Georgia's cooperation with the EU member states in the common legal space and improvement of mechanisms for the protection of children's rights.

The Minister of Justice held a meeting today with the representatives of the Hague Conference to discuss the issues of international cooperation on civil and commercial issues and protection of the interests of Georgian citizens.

Within the framework of the Hague Conference, the Ministry of Justice coordinates the implementation of international conventions, as a result of which Georgian citizens have the opportunity to protect their legal interests in EU member states and other states, such as, among others, receiving and handing over official documents; Proceeding of court disputes and enforcement of decisions; Protection of children's interests in case of family disputes.

Within the framework of the visit, the Minister of Justice signed the Hague Convention of November 23, 2007 on "International Payments of Child Alimony and Other Forms of Family Maintenance" and the Hague Protocol of November 23, 2007 on the Law Applicable to Maintenance Obligations. After the ratification of the Convention and Protocol, it will be possible to receive alimony in favor of children even if the parents are in other states.

Rati Bregadze Meets Chairperson of the International Criminal Court to Discuss Issues of Deepening Cooperation

Minister of Justice of Georgia, Rati Bregadze held a meeting today with Chairperson of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Piotr Hofmanski in the Hague.

It was noted at the meeting that Georgia, as one of the founding states of the Court, has always supported the activities of the International Criminal Court and its institutions, which has been manifested in exemplary cooperation over the years.

The Minister discussed concrete initiatives for deepening cooperation with the ICC.

The Ministry of Justice will actively continue to protect the national interests and sovereignty of Georgia in international courts in the future.

The Minister of Justice of Georgia Meets the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

At the meeting with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, the important results achieved as a result of cooperation were assessed and discussed, as well as, the challenges resulting from ongoing military conflicts.

Consistent strategic litigation in international courts is a priority of the Ministry of Justice, and the agency will actively continue protection of the state's interests in the future.

Minister of Justice Meets President of Eurojust to Discuss Issues of Cooperation

Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze held a meeting today with President of the European Union Cooperation Agency (Eurojust), Ladislav Hamran in the framework of his visit to the Hague.

Within the framework of the meeting, parties emphasized Georgia's successful cooperation with Eurojust and EU member states in the field of criminal justice and the fight against transnational organized crime, which is an important direction of sectoral cooperation in the process of European integration.

The Minister underlined the positive impact of effective and coordinated actions of the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office on the growing dynamics of cooperation with EU member states in the field of criminal law.

Rati Bregadze informed the President of Eurojust about the progress of implementation of the recommendations of the European Union in the fight against organized crime and new initiatives of cooperation in the field of justice.

Project Funded within the Grant Program of the Ministry of Justice Is Successfully Completed

The grant for the educational project was issued by the Ministry of Justice and it aims to strengthen the protection of human rights. The project allows the participating students to develop the skills necessary for a legal career, to raise their qualifications in the direction of the international human rights protection system and to create a contact network.

The final stage of the mock trial was held in Sairme, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Justice, Tornike Cheishvili, Head of Administration Department of the Justice Ministry, Manana Begiashvili and Head of Department of State Representation in International Courts, Nino Nikolaishvili.

The mock trial in human rights law was organized by the European Law Students Association of Georgia (ELSA Georgia). The project took place in several stages in course of 6 months. Law faculty students listened to lectures on human rights, got aquatinted in detail with the principles and practical aspects of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

The subject of this year's mock trial was the fight against violence against women and children's rights.

The Ministry of Justice annually announces a grant competition for strengthening civil involvement in the agency's activities. Last year, the Ministry funded best 17 projects. The representatives of the Ministry regularly monitor and support the progress of the funded projects.

About 70 students from different universities throughout the country took part in the project "Mock Trial in Human Rights Law". The team of Tbilisi State University became the winner of the mock trial. In addition, the competition revealed the best speaker representing the Caucasus University.
