Functions of the Department:

• Based on research and analysis, promoting the justice system in defining and implementing public policy in the areas of rule of law, human rights, justice, penitentiary, and democratic governance in general.
• Conducting legal and sociological comparative research on criminal law, good governance and other related topics and development of recommendations, proposals and bills.
• Conducting analysis of the practice of international human rights courts, state legislation, international law, criminal trends.
• Active participation in the strategic planning process.
• Collaborating with various international organizations and involvement in reporting, international representation, state evaluation and monitoring processes.
• Collaborating with higher education institutions and research institutes.

Management / Coordination of thematic interagency councils and policy making (development of strategy and action plans, reporting)

• Reform of the criminal justice system
