Statement of the Ministry of Justice

Our goal is for the public to have complete, comprehensive and objective information about the legal status and health of convicted Mikheil Saakashvili.

We request Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration, Mikheil Sarjveladze and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Affairs, Dimitri Khundadze to monitor the protection of prisoner’s rights in order to make the process more transparent to the public;

We address Public Defender, Nino Lomjaria and request cooperation;

We also requested the Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Ekaterine Tikaradze to set up a multifunctional group of doctors to study and analyze the health condition of the prisoner. The aim of the group of doctors will be to periodically monitor the health condition of Mikheil Saakashvili and, if necessary, to propose relevant recommendations.

Deputy Minister of Justice Tamar Zodelava Participates in Thematic Sessions of UN Global Event

Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Tamar Zodelava is participating in thematic sessions and discussions held as part of the 16th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).

As part of the session, Georgia expressed its support for the further development of the Framework for Effective Land Administration (FELA), as well as the establishment of an Effective Land Administration Hub. The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices among countries and contribute to strengthening land administration systems worldwide.

Drawing on its substantial experience and expertise in land administration and geospatial information management, Georgia also expressed its readiness to join the newly established UN Expert Group on Land Administration and Management (EG-LAM). The group contributes to the development of land administration policies, key approaches, and global development priorities.

Georgia’s participation in the group will provide an opportunity to share the country’s experience and expertise in support of the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the development of the global agenda in the field.

Georgia’s participation in the 16th Session of UN-GGIM further underscores the country’s growing contribution to international efforts in land administration and geospatial information management. It also strengthens opportunities for sharing Georgia’s expertise internationally and deepening cooperation in these areas.
