Minimum Age for Holding a Position of Notary Will Be 70 years

With 77 votes against none - the relevant amendment to the Law of Georgia on Notaries was adopted by the Parliament in the third reading. The legislative initiative was presented to the deputies by Deputy Minister of Justice, Tornike Cheishvili.

The current version of the law stipulates a maximum age of 65 years for a notary, however, based on the notary's application and reasoned recommendations by the Notary Chamber, the Minister of Justice had the authority to extend the notary's right to work for additional 5 years.

According to the implemented change, the age limit for holding the position of a notary has been fixed from 65 to 70 years. Before reaching this age, notaries will be able to exercise their powers without addressing the Minister and the relevant order.
