Georgian Minister of Justice Meets Turkish Counterpart at the Council of Europe Ministerial.

During the Council of Europe Ministers of Justice Conference in Malta, Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia held a meeting with Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunç.

The ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Turkey, with a particular focus on the fight against transnational organized crime and enhancing international criminal collaboration.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen their partnership.

Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia met with Maltese Minister of Justice Jonathan Attard in Malta during the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the Council of Europe.

The meeting focused on the friendly relations between Georgia and Malta and explored opportunities for cooperation in the field of justice. Special attention was given to combating transnational organized crime and strengthening international criminal cooperation in this area.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to deepen future cooperation.

Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia is attending the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the Council of Europe, held in Malta.

During the high-level meeting, Minister Salia signed the Third Additional Protocol to the European Convention on International Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. The protocol is designed to modernize and enhance the effectiveness of interstate cooperation in criminal cases, particularly in light of contemporary technological challenges.

The ministerial conference focuses on combating transnational organized crime and strengthening mutual legal assistance. Justice ministers from all Council of Europe member states are participating in the event.

The Minister of Justice of Georgia, Paata Salia, held a meeting with the Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah Al Nuaimi, during his official visit to the UAE.

The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of justice. The parties highlighted Georgia’s ongoing reforms, explored opportunities to expand collaboration in service accessibility, and emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in modernizing justice systems.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Salia invited his counterpart to participate in the UN Public Services Forum, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the United Nations in Tbilisi in 2026.

The Interagency Task Force for Free and Fair Elections (IATF) held its latest session at the Ministry of Justice.

During the meeting, members reviewed and discussed information circulated in the media as part of election monitoring regarding possible violations of electoral legislation by public servants. Following examination of the reports, the Commission concluded that no significant violations had been identified at this stage.

The Interagency Task Force, established under the Election Code, is tasked with preventing violations of electoral legislation by public servants, ensuring a prompt response to potential incidents, and developing relevant recommendations.

The Task Force is chaired by the Minister of Justice, Paata Salia, and includes senior representatives of various state institutions, ensuring coordinated and effective action.

The Interagency Task Force will continue its work until the Central Election Commission (CEC) officially publishes the final election results.

Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia met with Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Justice, was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Justice Lasha Maghradze, Deputy Minister Beka Dzamashvili, Head of the Special Penitentiary Service Giorgi Pataridze, as well as members of the Israeli Ministry of National Security delegation.

Discussions focused on the close partnership between Georgia and Israel and on opportunities to further enhance cooperation in the field of justice. Minister Salia briefed the Israeli side on the Ministry’s key priorities, highlighting the progress of reforms in the Georgian penitentiary system and the initiatives aimed at the re-socialization and rehabilitation of convicts.

As part of their visit, the Israeli delegation toured Gldani Penitentiary Institution No. 8, where they were introduced to the facility’s infrastructure and management standards.
